Vines & Harvest
Our vineyards are located in the village of Entrena, at an altitude between 550 and 610 mts (1800/2000 ft).
Mostly oriented mainly to the Northeast.
Tertiary Soils with bedrock of red marlstone and red clay with a thin soil of the quaternary period of glacis stones, lutites, marls, sandstones, gravels…
The grapes were hand-harvested on the 14th and 15th of October, in 200 kg containers.
Traditional viticulture in bush pruning.
Selected grapes coming from 3 plots surrounding the winery, vines between 35 and 85 years old.
Cold pre-fermentation maceration at 10°C for 4 days.
Wine was fermenting in French oak foudre for 8 days at 26°C, being punched daily. It was macerating for 12 days before being pressed.
Malolactic fermentation in 100% French oak barrels and aged for 16 months in second year old barrels. It was fined in bottle for another year before to be released to the market.
Dark cherry colour. Complex, mineral, intense and persistent nose. At the beginning more into the organic and dark side, liquorice aromas of the Tempranillo, followed up with red berries and apricots.
There is always a minerality and complexity.
Elegant and balanced in the mouth from the beginning.
Intense texture and structure, smooth and mature tannins, with a clear aftertaste which is fruity and expressive.
