El Pedal Viura 2023

Wine assembled from different vineyards owned by the Hernáiz family in the villages of Rioja Alta: Fuenmayor, Cenicero and Baños de Rioja.

Vineyard

Vineyards “Villarrubia”, Fuenmayor. Traditional bush vine Viura with an average age of 35 years in the vineyards of Fuenmayor and Cenicero. In Baños de Rioja, Viura is trained in espalier. The vineyards of Fuenmayor and Cenicero are not located in an area as extreme as those of Baños de Rioja, the microclimate is less atlantic and the wines do not require of a long aging to show their full potential. The harvest is done manually in 150 kg containers.

Winemaking

The grape is processed according to its particular origin. After a gentle pressing in an inert atmosphere, the musts are raked by gravity in cement tanks and fermented in stainless steel at a temperature of 16ºC. After the alcoholic fermentation, the wine remains with its lees for a month.

Tasting Notes

Pale straw yellow color.
Ripe white fruit aromas with slight oral nuances.
In the mouth, fruity and sweet, with the vividness of a well integrated acidity that gives freshness and length. An ideal wine for a light cuisine or to accompany all kinds of appetizers.
