Description:
Barranco del San Ginés has a medium ruby colour with primary fruit aromas of raspberries, cherries, bramble and blackcurrant. Secondary aromas of brioche and tertiary aromas of figs, forest floor and earth. The palate is elegant and well textured with smooth tannins. Good acidity, body and length. Great ageing potential.
Characteristics:
Single vineyard wine, from a 1,3 hectare unique vineyard planted in 1935. With 28 fruit trees spread throughout the vineyard, 2 stone sheds and stone walls terraces the vineyard is a reminder of how grapes were cultivated in Rioja in the past. Vines planted on 4 terraces from 520m to 600m on a south eastern facing slope of the Sierra Cantabria in between Laguardia and Elvillar with 5.000 vines per hectare. Traditionally worked all by hand and mules. Limestone soils. The wine is aged in wood for 2 years and one year in bottle. Truly iconic wine that expresses its origin and the history of Rioja.
