Viña Hermosa Gran Reserva produced by the Santalba wineries is one of those classics of the wine world, a gran reserva of Rioja tradition that delights the palates of the most expert winemakers.

It is a red wine made 100% with Tempranillo grapes from sustainable vineyards located in the municipalities of Ollauri, Gimileo and Briones. The vines are planted on clay-calcareous soils and at a height of between 470 and 520 meters. After the manual harvest of the grapes, they go to destemming and subsequent crushing to obtain the wine. It has a 4-day pre-fermentation maceration. Spontaneous fermentation is carried out in a controlled way. Unfiltered wine.

Curiosity

To ensure the highest quality, this gran reserva is racked every six months in a traditional way by gravity, that is, the wine is transferred from a full barrel to an empty one.

Santalba Viña Hermosa Gran Reserva rests for 26 months in medium-toasted American oak barrels, which gives it very special touches of wood. The final wine has an alcohol content of 14%.

This Rioja Qualified Designation of Origin red has intense color with black tones and tile trim. Viña Hermosa Reserva gives off intense aromas of very ripe black fruit with certain notes of vanilla and a spicy, balsamic finish. Already in the mouth, it presents itself as a silky and persistent wine. And it has great aging potential.

Before taking this gran reserva we recommend decanting it. The ideal is to serve the Viña Hermosa at a temperature of 17ºC, and accompany it with roasted or barbecued meats, traditional stews, cured or semi-cured cheeses such as Idiazábal, duck dishes, rice dishes and pasta of all kinds… In short, it pairs perfectly with countless preparations.
