The Viña Hermosa elaborated by the Santalba wineries is one of those classics of the wine world, a reserve of Rioja tradition that delights the palates of the most expert winemakers.

It is a red wine made 100% with Tempranillo grapes from sustainable vineyards located in the municipalities of Gimileo and Haro. The vines are planted on clay-calcareous soils and at a height of between 482 and 505 meters. After the manual harvest, grapes are destemmed and then crushed to get the broth. It has a 2-day pre-fermentation maceration. Spontaneous fermentation is carried out in a controlled way. Unfiltered wine.

The Santalba Viña Hermosa Reserva rests for 18 months in medium-toasted American oak barrels, which gives it very special touches of wood. The final wine has an alcohol content of 14%.

This Rioja Qualified Designation of Origin red has some picota red tones. Viña Hermosa Reserva gives off intense aromas of very ripe black fruit with certain notes of vanilla and a spicy and toasted finish. Already in the mouth, it is presented as a powerful but very well balanced wine. And it has great aging potential.

We recommend to decant Santalba Viña Hermosa Reserva before taking it. The ideal is to serve the Viña Hermosa at a temperature of 17ºC, and accompany it with roasted or barbecued meats, traditional stews, cured or semi-cured cheeses such as Idiazábal, duck dishes, rice dishes and pasta of all kinds… In short, it pairs perfectly with countless preparations.
