Red Maturana is a very minority variety in Rioja. Thanks to the work of recovering native varieties of La Rioja, Viña Ijalba began its organic cultivation until presenting this single variety that has nothing to do with a traditional Rioja. In fact, everyone who has tasted this wine blindly has not recognized that it was a Rioja. It is a garnet red wine of high layer, intense, spicy, with black fruit aromas, with round and persistent tannin, good concentration of fruit and acidity. That’s why it pairs perfectly with red meats, stews and tuna.

Viña Ijalba Maturana Tinta is made with grapes from the vineyard located in Villamediana de Iregua of Bodega Viña Ijalba. Under the Rioja Qualified Designation of Origin, this organic red is fermented in French oak vats with native yeasts. The malolactic fermentation takes place for three months in oak barrels in contact with lees and daily stirring. It is an organic Rioja with 10 months of aging in French oak barrels. It has 13.80% alcohol; 50 mg/l total sulfurous, 80 index of total polyphenols.
