Murillo de Rio Leza (La Rioja) birthplace of Tempranillo Blanco. This variety was born in 1988 in our village. A vine had decided to provide white grapes instead of black grapes. Nature is wisdom and if it choose Murillo to give birth this new variety, we must appreciate.
In 1988 a winegrower from Murillo de Rio Leza discovered that a vine of Tempranillo produced black and white grapes at the same time. This spontaneous genetic mutation, close to albinism, give rise to Tempranillo Blanco.
Our Tempranillo Blanco has been picked manually in our Finca del Yergo vineyard. It is a plot planted in 2014 with calcareus soil located at an altitude of 550 meters above the sea level.
The grapes are separated from the cluster and placed, through gravity, in a tank to maceratefor a few hours to extract the acidity, structure and aromas characteristics from tempranillo grape. Subsequently, we press it (we separated skins and seeds) and put the must in stainless steel truncated cone and invested truncated cone tankswith 10.000 liters capacity and provided with two cooling jackets to began to ferment at low temperature.
This wine has a seven months aging on the lees: half production in stainless steel tanks and the other half in 225 liters french oak barrels. This technique provide morevolume, unctuousness y varietal character (citric and floral).
Subsequently it is once again fully blendedand bottled to provide the final integration of wine, its roundnessand to make its aromatic intensity perfectly ready for its market debut.
RS: 1,5 g/l
Total Acidity: 6,81 g/l
This wine has a fabulous and very singular nose: it has a mix of citric (hoja de limonero, azahar) and frutal notes (plátano y piña) with honey, mint, cedar and mineral hints. Furthermore, it inherit from tempranillo tinto its big structure in mouth and give us a wine with volume y longitude.
Taste it now and taste it again in the future. The acidity, structure and the ageing in oak barrel that have this wine, allow you to enjoy of it today, tomorrow, the day after tomorrow and in a couple of years. It will appease its freshness and will increase its fineness, (Depending on what you prefer) and never lose its beauty.
