Alonso & Pedrajo is a winery located in Villalba de Rioja (La Rioja) that arises from the union of two vintner families that in 2011 decided to start producing their own quality wines with Rioja Designation of Origin.

Alonso & Pedrajo is a project born from the friendship and shared passion of two families for the world of viticulture and oenology. This passion led them to make their own wines, personal wines that differ from all Rioja but retain the quality that defines this denomination.
They began in 2011 with the purchase of various vineyards in the area of Villalba de Rioja, located in the Eastern part of the Obarenes Mountains. This location is characterized by its clay-calcareous soils and by the confluence of continental and Atlantic climates.
Today, half of Alonso & Pedrajo's vineyards are their own, while the rest come from collaborations with vintners from the Villalba area, thus maintaining the quality that this privileged origin brings.
Special care is taken in the cultivation of each vineyard, following principal of minimal intervention. This ensures that all the properties that the terroir brings to the grapes are preserved, so that they are reflected as best as possible in the final wines. The main varieties that are grown both in their own vineyards and in those of grape suppliers´ are Tempranillo, Malvasia, Viura, Maturana Blanca (White Maturana) and Sauvignon Blanc.
In the production phase in the cellar, a procedure that is carried out has become a hallmark of the winery. We talk about aging wines on the lees for a minimum of six months. This is the process carried out in all the wines made in the cellar.
Alonso & Pedrajo divides its elaborations into three wine collections: La Pequeñita, Sauñé and Valdinero.
La Pequeñita collection is the largest of the three, which groups two white wines, a rosé and a red. This range honors the smaller and lower-yielding plots, whose grapes are traditionally forced to mix with those of other lots.
Sauñé is red wine and white wine, both very personal and elegant wines, which refer to the French word soigne (elegance).
Finally, Valdinero is a wine of marked character that perfectly represents the terroir of the Obarenes mountains.
