La Maja

Located in the municipality of Mendavia (Navarra), La Maja is a family agricultural company dedicated for more than 20 years to the production of extra virgin olive oil of optimal quality.

In La Maja, a mechanical work is followed mainly based on respect for raw materials. Therefore, special care is taken in each of the processes of elaboration of extra virgin olive oil, from the work in the field to the final bottling and labeling.

The area of Mendavia stands out for its privileged location, ideal for the cultivation of olive trees, among other plantations.

In the case of the company La Maja, there are olive groves arranged in an intensive framework. In this way, the care and harvesting of the fruits can be done more easily and quickly, without damaging the olives or the trees.

The main varieties that are grown in the fields of La Maja and with which extra virgin olive oils are made are Arbequina, Picual, Arbosana, Empeltre and Koroneiki.

The harvesting of the fruits is done mechanically, something that helps to better preserve the properties and condition of the olives, since they do not suffer when falling to the ground. In addition, to keep these properties intact and obtain the best quality olive oil, it is ensured that no more than 12 hours pass between the time of harvesting the olives and the start of the extraction of the oil in the mill.

Once the olive oil is made, it is stored in various stainless steel tanks before being bottled.

La Maja has different brands among which it divides its oils with Protected Designation of Origin oil of Navarra, which are: Alfar La Maja, an oil 100% Arbequina; Mioliva, with 95% Arbequina and the rest of other varieties; La Maja and La Maja Limited Edition, Extra virgin olive oils made with the selection of the best cultivated varieties.

In addition to its oils, the company La Maja also has other quality products such as cracked olives, modena vinegar and wine vinegar.
