The Organic Wines of Ojuel Wines are characterized by their traditional and respectful elaboration with the vineyard. The 100% artisanal work results in wines with their own personality, faithful reflection of the terroir where their grapes are grown.
Ojuel Wine carries tradition and manual work by flag. It is a family winery in which, following artisan methods, which manages to produce quality organic wines endorsed by the D.O.Ca Rioja. The Ojuel winery is located in the town of Sojuela (La Rioja), an area where vineyards are grown at the foot of Moncalvillo.
The way in which Ojuel Winery works is part of ethnography, this is that the study of the previous culture is taken into account for the production of wines today. Thus, traditional methods are followed for each production process, from the care of the vineyard to the pressing and bottling of the wines.
By using only organic fertilizers in the vineyard and not adding yeast or tartaric in the wines, these are certified with the organic wine seal.
But the use of artisanal techniques not only allows to create organic wines that are a faithful reflection of the terroir, but has also led the family that owns Ojuel Winery to rescue types of wines, such as Supurao.
It is a traditional sweet wine from the coldest areas of La Rioja that had stopped being made. In 2012 Ojuel Winery marketed its first vintage, which was very well received by experts and consumers, winning the recognition of the qualified Designation of Origin Rioja in 2014.
Although the Supurao is the hallmark of the winery, other types of wines are also made, all of them manually and with minimal intervention in the vineyard so that they represent as faithfully as possible the essence of their terroir. Currently, in addition to the Supurao (red and white), 10 more wines are made in the Ojuel winery, most of them red, although there are also whites such as Fuente León.
