Although the family has a long winemaking tradition, it was not until 1964 that they began to produce their own wines under the name of Bodegas Santalba. The vineyards of the family are distributed in different points of the Rioja Alta area, where the main varieties of native grapes of La Rioja are grown. With regards to red grapes, Tempranillo is the most abundant, although other varieties such as Mazuelo, Garnacha (Grenache) or Graciano are also used. As far as white grapes are concerned, Viura and Malvasia are the most used to make Santalba broths.
Thanks to the various plots and grape varieties that are grown, the Santalba winery can produce a wide variety of wines that it divides into 6 different collections, taking into account both the type of grape and the terroir where it has been grown.
