Ten years ago (in 2011) Roberto Oliván began to develop the Tentenublo Wines project, an idea that comes from many years ago, because Roberto's family has an important wine tradition that has awakened his passion for the world of wine and oenology.
With an experience acquired for more than 20 years in the Family Vineyards, Roberto Oliván has managed to produce the wines Tentenublo, a Rioja denomination of Origin wines with its own character from the most unknown and difficult to work areas of La Rioja Alavesa.
We are currently working with 10 hectares of own vineyards spread over about 30 plots located in the Rioja Alavesa village of Viñaspre, very close to Lanciego.
This area is characterized by its limestone and sandstone loam soils and by the greater influence of the Atlantic climate (due to its altitude of 620 meters), conditions that make the cultivation work more complicated, but that result in unique wines fruit of that extra effort.
The most important thing about Tentenublo Wines is that they make their wines in an artisanal and very personal way, putting special love and care to each of their bottles. All processes are made by hand and pampering the raw materials to the maximum, so that all the properties of the grapes can be preserved.
This working methodology makes the wines of Tentenublo have a unique seal in Rioja. They are personal wines that represent the character of their creator, Roberto Oliván, and that manage to differentiate themselves from the more industrial wines.
Tentenublo Wines is the clear example of the passion for the world of wine and for the artisanal work well done, the usual.
As a curiosity, it should be noted that the name of Tentenublo refers to the ringing of the bells that was once made in producing villages of Rioja to scare away the hail clouds that could threaten the harvest in the ripening times of the grapes.
